The ART of traveling.......makes memories last!
Sherry Marger
Painting is a Passion, Art is the Reward......

destination (ˌdestəˈnā sh ən) noun:
the place to which someone or something is going or being sent.....
I always thought that there were better places to be living when I was growing up in a large city on the east coast. As a child, I thought I was doomed to be trapped there forever. The escape was always over the river, not through the woods, but into the trains that carried me to another world where the galleries and museums awaited.
I fortified my skills as an Art Education Major at a teacher’s college but my basic abilities for representational artwork developed over the years by teaching others and observing the artists around me.
It wasn’t until much later in life, when I started traveling that I began to paint more seriously. I had always photographed, catalogued and then assembled albums of trips, but realized how painting could extend my traveling world experiences not only to myself but to others. Traveling became my inspiration. "Destination Art" has become my passion.
I am primarily a studio artist who paints with acrylic from my own photos that I’ve taken on various trips. I will do plein air watercolor sketching on location to lay the groundwork for the finished paintings in my studio. I like the stability of this medium and the technique that I am able to achieve using them.
My paintings have been exhibited and awarded many ribbons in shows but I continue to emerge and grow and discover new places to paint, and have realized that one need not go far to find interesting locations.
“Balboa's Best" is representative of my most recent works painted during 2022, the Covid Quarantine Period.
